Product Description

After the Sparkling Malbec we introduced last year we decided to follow up using an even rarer grape for a bubbly: Petit Verdot. We grow it in our Rennie Organic Vineyard, which was planted in 1990. It features a split canopy, quadrilateral cordon planted with 9 x 6 foot spacing. It rests on bench lands at about 1,000 ft. elevation with a southern exposure. So, vines with altitude. Lovely Aromas in the Bubbly It is not just imagination, there often is a powerful aroma to sparkling wines. It's the bubbles that carry those aromas up through wine straight to your nose. And Petit Verdot is an aromatic variety so you may find hints of fresh blueberries, pink grapefruit, lychee, guava, and kiwi. Match with Many Dishes or Just say "Cheers!" The flavor has the refreshing cranberry lift typical of Petit Verdot making this a very food-friendly bubbly. Try serving it with smoked salmon spread (smoked salmon, cream cheese, capers and chives), or enjoy with shrimp braised in butter and sprkinkled with paprika. Other ideas include have it it with oysters, sushi or sashimi; or ham or roasted chicken. 700 Grapes and 65 Million Bubbles - Know You Know According to the California Wine Institute on average there are about 700 grapes in a bottle of wine. And a study undertaken by the Bollinger Champagne house determined that there are about 65 million bubbles in a bottle of bubbly produced in the Methode Tradionnelle style. 100% Estate grown grapes from our certified organic vineyard in southern Mendocino County Methode Traditionnelle (also known as Methode Champenoise) 87% Petit Verdot plus 13% Cabernet Franc Color: Delicate pink Harvested Oct 5, 2012 - See more at: https://www.yorkvillecellars.com/xe/xe.asp?page=viewitem&p=507&cat=bottles-cases#sthash.LZOc2Y8K.dpuf
