Clean and fresh, this juicy wine carries a bit of fruit sweetness, but the flavors are tilted toward minerality rather than fruitiness. It's wonderfully refreshing, with a mix of citrus rind, melon and white peach working into an extended, palate-cleansing finishView all products by Chateau Ste. Michelle
Chateau Ste. Michelle Riesling comes from a well-known estate that was one of the first founded in the Columbia Valley of Washington state. This winery is one of the biggest producers of Riesling in the world and has without a doubt made helped make a name for Washington wines.
Washington wines are characterized by their undulating soil types and favorable climate. The climate doesn't just shine through for the usual suspects of Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay, but also cool-climate wines such as Pinot Gris and even Riesling. This wine is designated as medium-dry and can be reminiscent of Rieslings produced in Germany. It has an aromatic nose of mandarin orange, juicy peaches and apricot. Although the wine has a touch of sweetness, its prickly acid makes your mouth water for spicy Asian noodles, curry or jalapeño-based salsas.
Aside from spicy foods, this Riesling is versatile with its coriander and thyme undertones that would make a formidable partner to herbed chicken or salmon.
