Product description

Archduke Johann of Austria imported the first Pinot gris vines from Burgundy in 1852. In general, Pinot gris thrives in the fertile plains. Cultivation of Pinot gris at altitude – and critically, with a long growing season – is remarkable and unique. On the steep slopes of Penon (600 m.a.s.l.), Pinot gris develops a dense, compact body that is pulled vigorously into the finish by a dynamic acidic structure. On these permeable, chalky vineyard terraces an extraordinary mountain wine, spicy and peppery, comes into being, and reflects its terroir in an admirable way. The bouquet is reminiscent of tangerines, yellow peach slices, Kaiser pears and fresh apples. In a duet with an exhilaratingly fruity appeal, the salty finish gives it a magical balance and a bewitching, persistent interplay with minerals and long berry fruit.
