Ripe with all of the floral, honey and white peach notes characteristic of Chenin. A hint of lanolin and beeswax are beginning to show as the wine has had time to age. Medium-bodied and off-dry on the palate with citrusy acidity balancing the slight sweetness and delicious mineral flavors on the finish. Additional Information Discover a whole new world of aromas and flavors with this delicious classic. If you are afraid that Vouvray is too sweet for you, don’t let that notion get in your way. Vouvray is one of the world’s great wines and it can be made in a variety of styles from bone dry to intensely sweet late harvest or even sparkling wines! The beautiful pastoral countryside of the Loire Valley, which is also famous for its gorgeous châteaux. That’s the beauty of the Chenin Blanc grape. It’s extremely adaptable and can play many different roles depending on how the winemaker decides to make the wine and on harvest conditions. Chenin’s unique personality will always shine through however, showing off the magical synergy between vine and the special terroir of the Vouvray appellation. Situated on the gentle slopes of the Loire River, the siliceous-clay, and limestone-clay soils lie on top of a layer of tuffeau, ochre colored limestone. Many of the ancient quarries which served as a source of limestone to build the surrounding châteaux are now used as wine cellars. The cool climate is beneficial for Chenin Blanc because it ensures good acidity which balances the fruity character of the grape and the mineral flavors imparted by the terroir. The acidity is also what allows Vouvray to age magnificently for decades. The 2002 vintage was exceptional in the Loire. While it rained in southern France, the Loire was spared and enjoyed a long sunny season resulting in exceptional quality and ripeness. Allow yourself the pleasure of discovering one of the world’s most prestigious wines from a particularly noted vintage. Take the time to explore the truly unique flavors of Chenin Blanc from Vouvray. Serve chilled, but be careful that it’s not too cold. Enjoy the wine as it warms slightly and opens in the glass. Watch as the flavors evolve and develop. Vouvray make excellent food wines, thanks to their acidity. Try this with delicate seafood dishes such as sole amandine or a light and airy souffle with fresh herbs and goat cheese.View all products by MonmousseauCalifornia Residents: Click here for Proposition 65 WARNING
