Woodbridge Chardonnay has a long history as part of the Robert Mondavi Family wines. The Mondavi family immigrated from Italy in the early 1900s and were soon bewildered by the start of Prohibition in the US. As a result, Cesare worked in shipping of produce and grapes, which ultimately lead him to move his family to the Lodi valley where most of the fruit was coming from. No stranger to hard work, Cesare's son Robert Mondavi grew up working in the vineyard and his first job was nailing together crates to hold grapes his family was shipping out.
Robert Mondavi is a beloved advocate and pioneer of the winemaking industry in California. He has been on the forefront of using modern equipment to maximize production and quality. Robert believes passionately in maintaining harmonious relationships with the growers he works with to ensure a high quality product. In the winery, Woodbridge Chardonnay benefits from extended lees aging which adds body and complexity to the wine, as well as aging different block with either French or American oak to result in smooth, creamy, approachable wines.
Woodbridge Chardonnay is a quintessentially rich, creamy, and buttery California Chardonnay. The wine is laced with ripe baked apples, notes of cinnamon, clove, and maple. The finish is dripping with vanilla spice and toast. The wine is balanced and vibrant and would pair beautifully with grilled or roasted chicken or pork. Don't be afraid to pair with creamy dishes like Pasta Alfredo or with a tart meal like lemon pepper chicken. Serve this wine lightly chilled to maximize complexity and aromas.
