La Crema Winery has been producing wines on their Sonoma Estate since 1979. They pioneered the use of the Burgundian varietals in the cool Russian River Valley. The wines are handcrafted one barrel at a time to produce refined yet affordable Pinots and Chardonnays. Their grapes are hand harvested to ensure full flavor and optimal ripeness. The Sonoma Coast AVA, which runs from the San Pablo Bay to Mendocino County, is perfect for producing these wines with grace and balance. It requires ideal conditions to create wines of elegance, a combination that's given the Sonoma Coast status as one of the finest wine-growing regions in the world.
Chardonnay is one of the world's most recognizable grape varietals. It can be grown in many conditions and styles. Not many grapes can boast such a varied resume, from buttery round Chardonnays of Napa Valley to the minerally chalky styles of Chablis. The La Crema Sonoma Coast Chardonnay falls just in the middle. It opens up with a nose full of lemon, green apple and honey suckle with just enough acidity to make your mouth water. What follows is melon, pear and citrus on the palate and a roundness of butter and oak on the finish. The rich texture is concentrated and perfect for dishes including butternut squash ravioli, crab, baked scallops, potato au gratin or anything with cream sauces.
