Product Description

Everything about this wine is unusual. Light orange, unfiltered and therefore slightly cloudy and also clear. The Timorasso grape variety is also not everyday. The wine is made in the hills near the town of Tortona, in south-east Piedmont. The wine name Derthona is the ancient Roman name of Tortona. The hills where the vineyards are are the area of origin Colli Tortonesi. For the idiosyncratic (natural) winemaker Daniel Ricci, this is a basic wine from the many variants of unfiltered and unclassified wine that he makes. For basic Timorasso there is three days of peeling contact before the fermentation begins, which gives color and a little tannin. Furthermore, no wood bearing and minimal addition of sulphites, often far below 'normal' use.
