Drizly Expert Notes

One could dive into technical details of making rosé wine, but that's not the point. Instead, what matters here is the juice-tinged with flavor of watermelon Jolly Ranchers and just the right amount of acidity. White Girl Rosé is meant to be drunk. Repeatedly and regardless of vessel. Drink it directly from the bottle. In fact, that might be directly encouraged.

Need a case of wine for your upcoming clam bake? White Girl Rosé.
Beach day? White Girl Rosé.
Game night on the porch? White Girl Rosé. Day drinking? Wine Spritzer? Brosé? Frosé? Lobster roll? Bag of potato chips? Chinese food? Take-out? Unwinding after a long day? Snowed-in? Rent check due? Not white or a girl? White Girl Rosé.

The White Girl Rosé story starts when social media stars Josh Ostrovsky (“The Fat Jew") and David and Tanner Cohen (“White Girl Problems") noticed a rosé shortage on the Hamptons in 2014. They sought a drinkable, low sugar, low alcohol rosé. At Cacciatore Fine Wines & Olive Oil they tasted several versions of winemaker Claudio Basei's white zinfandel. Basei previously worked at Ornellaia, a renowned winery in Bolgheri Italy. Initially a blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Zinfandel for its first vintage, The following year, there was some Pinot Grigio added. Now, White Girl Rosé is made by O'Neill. It's your mother's versatile White Zinfandel, repackaged for the 21st century and not as sweet.
