Product Description

Valley of the Muses, which lies 60km east of the ancient site of Delphi. The vines here have an average age of 45 years, and produce between 800-900kg of grapes annually. This area benefits from the cooling winds that blow down from Mount Helicon." (10/2013) The soils in the Naousa are rich in clay and limestone, and the Thymiopoulos family has farmed their land here for several generations according the principals of biodynamics. All wines are fermented with wild yeast, and raised without any contact with oak. Newly replanted Xinomavro vines averaging five to seven years in age go into the "Young Vines" bottling. Known for its high tannin, acidity and dark color, Xinomavro has long been regarded as Greece's finest red wine but was hard to come by outside of Greece; now it experiencing an exciting renaissance in popularity among trendy drinking circles around the world as a unique alternative to Bordeaux and Barolo. Loaded with brambly red and black fruits, earthy spice, and mineral, with a touch of flowering herb, this is structured, elegant wine that blossoms with complexity as it opens. Decant or enjoy it as it evolves over the course of the evening, ideally accompanied by grilled beef or lamb kebabs.
