Product Description

Mission accomplished! The Pinot Project has accomplished its goal of being one of the greatest red wine values coming out of California. It is hand-crafted from grapes grown in notable AVA's such as Sonoma County, Carneros & Monterey. The Pinot Project has a full and silky mouth feel, with just the right amount of acidity to complement a variety of dishes. The wine is 100% stainless steel fermented with the caps receiving periodic punchdowns, before finishing dry with just a kiss of oak.

Drizly Expert Notes

The Pinot Noir Project by wine importer Michael Skurnik started in 2009 with the best Pinot Noir grapes available in California. The blend is balanced between Sonoma, Monterey and the Central Coast to provide the highest depth and character from three different soil types and microclimates. Some grapes are picked early to keep their acidity and brightness, while others are let to heat up longer under the Californian sun to give roundness and ripe, juicy, red fruits like cherries and red currants.

Because of that delicate balance, this wine floats between fruity and succulent. It's fermented in stainless steel to keep its freshness, then upwards of 20% of the wine is matured in French oak for 5 months to provide structure and roundness for balance. By keeping the grapes AVA specific, the price-point stays low while still producing a delicate red wine. The result is the perfectly executed balancing act of ripe fruits, touch of oak, classic dried herbs and ginger that Pinot Noir drinkers are always looking for.
