Meiomi Pinot Noir is a product of skillfull winemaking and vineyard management. With finesse, Meiomi blends three specific lots of quality grapes and ages them with fine-tuned balance. The sourced grapes come from coastal areas located in Monterey, Santa Barbara and Sonoma Counties. These coastal counties, with their shorelines and inner hilltops and valleys, pull Pacific winds inland to cool grapes and provide them with an acid structure and varying complexities of fruit flavors.
Meiomi ages their Pinot Noir in new oak which accentuates its toasty vanilla notes. It also provides a subtle spice with cacao that plays nicely with its taste of strawberry preserves. It has a bright, stewed fruit character that fits in with the identity of Meiomi while still allowing an expression of cooler, coastal breezes. It makes a perfect pairing with duck breast topped with a fruit glaze. Winemaker Melissa Stackhouse notes that this is a wine made for pure enjoyment, laughter and time spent with friends.
