Product description

A lighter and kombucha-like funky red of old vine Pais. Pais, known as Mission in North America, is an old variety brought to the New World by Spanish colonists and was often grown by monasteries. It was considered a workhorse grape traditionally, making wine for farmers and church services, a style the Chileans called Pipeno. In recent years the high-quality of the old vines of Pais, farmed in the old fashioned pre-industrial way (by default organic) and with the native rootstock, has sparked a revival of Pipeno as a wine of interest. Luyt is a Frenchman by birth making wines naturally in his adopted home of Chile, all wild ferments, no filtering or fining, low if any sulfites applied.
