Product Description
2011 was the coldest growing season in decades. During winter and spring it was cold and rainy. Bud break and bloom were delayed and clusters were small. Leaf removal and cluster separation were crucial tasks in the vineyards to reach our high standard of quality. Cluster removal was done early allowing air flow and sunlight to reach clusters. Summer was mild and the afternoon sun helped mature grapes to full ripeness with complex aromatics. 2011 was excellent vintage for Merlot because it matures earlier than other red varieties. Majority of our blocks were picked before the rain. Aromas and Flavors: Dried blueberries, dried cranberries, black plums and cassis notes. Bittersweet chocolate and cocoa powder comingling with hits of black cardamom. Salty black licorice, green peppercorns and roasted coffee beans. Mouthfeel: Black slate, graphite, vibrant acidity, seamless tannins and a long finish.
