Product description
Sourced from the Certified Sustainable (SIP) Santa Margarita Ranch AVA in the southernmost tip of Paso Robles, CA. This region is one of the last to be harvested in the area because of the much cooler than average temperatures—allowing for long hang time and balanced ripening. Aged in new and used French oak barrels. This wine's nose is particularly complex with aromas of cocoa dust, cedar, tobacco, ripe boysenberry, and freshly cut herbs. Flavors are black cherry cola, rhubarb pie filling, with a little black pepper. The tannins are soft and supple as you'd expect with a cool-climate Merlot. Serious acidity keeps the flavors elevated for what seems like forever.
