Product Description

Chateau Puy Blanquet is owned by the Jacquet family. The wine making, vineyard management and sales are all managed by Ets. Moueix. The 20 hectare, Right Bank vineyard of Chateau Puy Blanquet is planted to 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. The vines are on average, 25 years of age. The vineyard is planted to a vine density of 5,000 vines per hectare. The vineyard has a terroir of clay and limestone soils. At Chateau Puy Blanquet, the yields are quite high, at close to 50 hectoliters per hectare. The vineyard is machine harvested. The wine of Chateau Puy Blanquet is vinified in traditional, cement vats. Malolactic fermentation takes place in vat. The wine is aged in a combination of vats and oak barrels. 80% of the production is aged in vat, 20% is aged in French, oak barrels. Production is close to 10,000 cases per vintage of Chateau Puy Blanquet. There is a second wine, Chateau Laberne.
