Product Description

Broc Cellars' Valdiguié is a unique wine made from a rare grape grown in an under-represented region. Once identified as Napa Gamay, Valdiguié is actually from Languedoc and also goes under the name of Gros Auxerrois. It is, however, no relation to the Gamay of Beaujolais and cannot be listed on California wine labels. Consequently, most of it has been grubbed up to make room for more popular California varietals, but winemaker Chris Brockway discovered some errant vines growing on a hillside in Solano County. The Green Valley AVA in Solano (not to be confused with Sonoma's Green Valley) is located just east of Napa County between San Francisco and Sacramento. Since Valdiguié is not really cultivated anywhere else, his vines are totally “site specific”, as Chris would call it. Brockway uses Biodynamic farming, very little sulphur, and whole-cluster carbonic maceration to highlight the true nature of the varietal and its terroir.
