Sparkling red wine is made by taking the juice and skins of red grapes, double fermented to add alcohol and then introducing carbon dioxide for bubbles. There are three styles of sparking reds that are the most popular: Lambrusco, Branchetto d’Acqui and sparkling Shiraz.

Sparkling reds can vary from dry to sweet. If you’re looking for a drier sparkling red, we’d recommend tasting the Lambrusco style. If you have a sweet tooth, go for Branchetto d’Acqui. If you’re looking for something a little higher in ABV, the sparkling shiraz style is for you.

Serve well chilled, and in a flute glass to accentuate the flavor the bubbles provide to the wine. Lambrusco pairs with anything from hot dogs to cupcakes depending on the sweetness of the bottle chosen. Brachetto d’Acqui pairs best with foods involving chocolate, and shiraz is great to pair with breakfast or barbecue foods. So between the three, you can pretty much pair them with anything.
