Product description

Demi-Sec was the most popular style of Champagne in the 18th century. We continue to make this authentic style with the same pride and care with which we make the rest of the Laurent-Perrier range. More than 55 crus with an average rating of 94% are used in the Demi-Sec base wine blend. Between 10-20% of reserve wines are used to ensure perfect consistency. The blend is 45% Chardonnay, 40% Pinot Noir, 15% Pinot Meunier. Following a minimum of three years of cellar aging, Demi-Sec receives a dosage of 40 grams of sugar per liter dissolved in wine from the same cuvée. This dosage level results in a Demi-Sec that is pleasantly sweet without being cloying. The sweetness of Demi-Sec naturally calls for rich desserts, especially cakes and tarts.

A Champagne blend is a famous style of sparkling wine made from three main grapes - pinot noir, chardonnay and pinot meunier. The blend of wine may only be called Champagne if it is produced in the Champagne region of France.
The three main grapes used for Champagne blends are chardonnay, pinot noir, and pinot meunier. The other four additional grapes that are officially permitted to be used, but are quite rare in practice are pinot gris, pinot blanc, petit meslier, and arbane.
