Drizly Expert Notes
Pure elegance in a glass, Moet and Chandon Imperial Brut is a favorite among champagne drinkers and non-champagne drinkers alike. Whether you're thinking about trying Champagne for the first time or you know it, love it and drink it all the time, you know Moet and Chandon as a classic quality bottle of bubbles that won't disappoint. This champagne is the de facto standard for wine lists across the globe because of it's reputation. Created in 1869, the Imperial Brut embodies Moet & Chandon's unique style, which is celebrated by its bright fruitiness, enticing palate and elegant maturity.
Moet and Chandon Imperial Brut is crafted from more than 100 different wines, of which 20-30% are reserve wines specifically selected to enrich the wine's complexity, quality, and dependability. There are three grapes that are rightly highlighted in the assemblage of this wine; 30-40% Pinot Noir for body, 30-40% Pinot Meunier for suppleness and the 20-30% Chardonnay for finesse.
On the pour and swirl you'll notice a golden straw color with a tinge of green highlighting the background. The bubbles are small, fast and uniform just like they should be in a quality champagne. On the nose is a lively force of green apple and lemon-lime fruit. There are clean mineral nuances, white flowers, fresh baked brioche and fresh nuts. The palate is lavishly delicious and full of bright white fruit, like white peach, pears and apples. This is a perfect pairing for sushi, scallops and white fish or even a beautifully roasted whole chicken with herbs. Pick this wine up today so you have something nice on hand when that great news finally comes in and you want to pop some bubbles to celebrate.
