Product Description

The art of blending is the key to the high quality and value of Korbel Brut. We blend multiple varieties from multiple appellations and even multiple years. Each grape variety and appellation that we use contributes a unique character to the final blend. The goal is to make a California champagne that consistently delivers the highest level of quality. As the last step, Korbel Brut California champagne receives a medium-dry level of dosage - just enough to balance the classic crisp acidity and make Korbel Brut the perfect match for all of life's celebrations.

Drizly Expert Notes

Korbel Wineries began with the Korbel and Heck families Three brothers of the Korbel family moved from what is now the Czech Republic to the remote area of Sonoma County. Here they began a manufacturing business, followed by lumber and eventually produce. It was during this time they began producing grapes as well. The winery was shut down during Prohibition in 1920s, but remained intact due to the brothers' other ventures. The winery was becoming successful again in the 1950s, and sold to Adolf Heck under the condition that he continue to produce California Sparkling wine using the Methode Champenoise.

Korbel is made in the legendary Methode Champenoise process. To create the wine, the winemaker first creates a dry, still, white wine of various grapes, then blends them to create a still version of the final product. This is bottled with a bit of yeast and sugar and allowed to ferment again inside the bottle. The yeast creates the bubbles, which remain trapped in the bottle. This method has been respected and proven since the inception of sparkling wine, and it adds excellent nuance, balance, and texture.

Korbel Brut is a medium-dry sparkling wine from California with good balance and a clean finish. The wine boasts rich aromas of citrus, cinnamon, toast, and vanilla. This classic pairs well with oysters, caviar, and fish that's either grilled or fried.
