Love it or hate it, Valentine's Day is coming up fast. Our advice? Grab this holiday by the horns and make it whatever you want it to be. There is a wine for every Valentine's occasion, no matter how big or small.
First Date. This is the perfect day to treat your Valentine to a yummy dining experience. And while we agree that taking your date to a fancy restaurant can be very sweet, it's also going to be crowded and—quite honestly—a teensy bit unimaginative. Consider instead preparing a home-cooked a meal for your Valentine. Pair your meal with an unexpected wine choice such as Starborough's crisp, citrusy Sauvignon Blanc or Alamos' smokey Malbec.
Married Couple. If you're celebrating with your forever Valentine, sip on something as classic as your love story: a rich Cabernet Sauvignon. We're partial to Louis M. Martini Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon for its hints of intense fruit, dried herbs and supple tannins. If the two of you don't vibe with red wine, try J Vineyard Pinot Gris for its fruit-forward and layered palate.
Girls' Night. Movies, junk food, and wine. Girls' night is a sacred time that calls for distinctly girly wines such as Barefoot Pink Moscato. With notes of juicy cherries, tart raspberries and sweet pomegranates, this Moscato is deliciously sweet and—of course—pink. For a more crisp, refreshing wine, pop open a bottle of La Marca Prosecco.
Valentine's Day Party. This is a great option for the single and couples alike. Why keep the celebration down to two when you can get all of your friends together in one place to celebrate Valentine's Day in all its glory? Serve something pink or red (it's still Valentine's Day, after all) like Dark Horse Rosé and Apothic Red. Make this a holiday to remember!
