Saint George Botanivore Gin is a refreshing take on a classic. Botanivore involves 19 spirits, including standards like juniper berries, angelica root, lemon peel and star anise. It also throws some curveballs, such as orris root, caraway, cilantro and citra hops.
Have a whiff. Your nose will tingle with spice, fennel, cardamom and citrus, but some sweetness is hanging around too. The flavor is complex and develops at length, exposing earth, crystallized ginger, rye bread, lime zest and fresh herbs. The finish is clean and cool like the breeze across a fresh meadow.
How can you mix it? It doesn't need much. Sip it on the rocks, with tonic or as a dry martini. But with all the creativity coming out of St. George, you should have some fun with it. Twist up a classic Vesper using three ounces of Botanivore with an ounce of St. George Vodka and a half ounce of Lillet Blanc. Serve shaken or stirred in a chilled martini glass with a lemon peel.
