Sippin' In The Rain

You know what they say: April showers bring May flowers, but April wine is simply divine. Okay, we added that second part, but the idiom still rings true. Whether you love or hate the rain, the weather is never too poor to enjoy a glass of wine. Here are 5 of our all-time favorite springtime wines, because when it rains, we pour.

Whitehaven Sauvignon Blanc. When the rain has got you down, just picture yourself in the lush, green New Zealand vineyards that produced this medium-bodied, finely-balanced Sauv Blanc. Aromas of blackcurrant leaf and jalapeño mingle with notes of grapefruit, guava and passionfruit for a long, clean finish.

Barefoot Moscato. Put on your nicest galoshes, slip into your raincoat, and enjoy a glass of wine that is overflowing with notes of juicy peaches, sweet apricots and a crisp finish. For a brighter, more vibrant alternative—pick up a bottle of Barefoot's Pink or Red Moscato as well.

Dark Horse Cabernet Sauvignon. When the storm clouds come rolling in, you reach for Dark Horse. This mouthwatering red has deep tannins and fruity aromatics ideal for listening to the distant thunder from the comfort of home.

Ecco Domani Pinot Grigio. Notes of citrus and exotic fruit complement tantalizing floral aromas for a delicate and food-friendly white wine with lively acidity. Taking a sip of this delightful Pinot feels just like splashing in a fresh rain puddle.

Fleur de Mer Rosé. When the rain has you cooped up inside, pop open this bottle of Provençal Rosé with notes of fresh watermelon, cherry, citrus and a hint of lavender. It's almost like you're really there—prancing down the sunny, aromatic streets of Provence.
