Product Description

Hop Hunter IPA harnesses the complex flavors of just-picked hops through an all-new method of steam distilling wet hops before they even leave the fields. This revolutionary technique captures and intensifies the natural flavors, creating a unique and intensely aromatic beer. Our custom process gathers pure hop oil which, when combined with traditional whole-cone hops in the brew kettle and in our Hop Torpedo, makes for an incredible IPA experience.

Drizly Expert Notes

Sierra Nevada Hop Hunter is a game changing 6.2% ABV IPA that utilizes “hop oil" as an exciting new ingredient and process for brewers looking to extract every drop of flavor out of their hop cones. Sierra Nevada uses a revolutionary technique of steam distilling wet hops right at the farm where the hops are picked. This captures and preserves the flavor of the precious fresh hop oils of wet hops. In conjunction with Sierra Nevada's standard practice of using whole cone hops, the addition of hop oil creates an intense and unique natural flavor of fresh picked hops.

While most breweries use pelletized hops that have been heated, processed, and formed into easy to use and store pellets, “wet hops" are unprocessed hops pulled fresh off of the bine. These hops must be used very shortly after harvest, 24-48 hours, otherwise they will spoil. As for whole cone hops, they are dried in “whole" instead of being grinded down and compressed as with pellet hops.

As for food pairing, the hop bitterness would cut through intense and aromatic cheeses like Stilton and other Bleu cheeses. Or top those cheeses on a burger as Hop Hunter's malt dances with the sweet and starchy flavors of the bun, as well as the citrus and pine notes slicing through the fat of the burger. Hop Hunter grilled and smoked dishes like, wood-fired salmon and barbecue beef brisket.
