Radio Boca Tempranillo is 100% Tempranillo sourced from mature 25 to 50 year old vines in Valencia on the eastern coast of Spain. This is a project put together by an international group of winemakers creating a wine for the American market. The color is ruby red with black highlights. The nose is strawberry and cocoa powder, a little smoke from the backyard grill and a late hit of blackberry and violets, the scents do not jump out at you, but you will be rewarded if you take the time to sniff them out. There is a nice lush mouthfeel, it is more fruit forward than the usual Tempranillo from Spain. Rich, dark berries upfront, then licorice followed by Nestle chocolate chips. This Tempranillo is very smooth, there are no sharp edges from tannins, it’s all fruit and candy. The finish is light, but does last an acceptable time.
