Plymouth Original Strength is a unique, protected style of gin originating from the city of Plymouth, South West England. Since 1793 it has been distilled from a unique blend of 7 botanicals, soft Dartmoor water and pure grain alcohol at the historic Black Friars Distillery - the oldest working distillery in England. THE TASTE Plymouth Gin has a great depth of flavour with deep earthy notes and a wonderfully fresh juniper and lemony bite. It has a slight sweetness with extraordinary concentration and complexity. No single botanical dominates the overall flavour. The finish is long and dry. SERVING SUGGESTION Plymouth is ideal served with tonic over ice and a squeeze of lemon or lime. Alternatively savour its smooth taste in, amongst other wonderful cocktails, the Fraise Sauvage cocktail featured in the Detroit News newspaper - a more terrific variation of champagne with fresh strawberries! TASTING NOTES Colour - Crystal Clear. Nose - Rich, fresh aroma of juniper followed by notes of coriander and cardamom. Palate - Extremely smooth, creamy and full bodies with a slight sweetness. Finish - Elegant, long, fresh and aromaticView all products by Plymouth
Want an honest British gin that isn't shy about its true nature? While other gins are demurely posing as lightly herbed neutral spirits, Plymouth Gin doesn't care what you think. It's an invigorating blend of botanicals that once fueled an empire.
Since 1793, the Black Friars Distillery has operated in the southern corner of England. Its soft, pure water and abundance of natural ingredients produces a unique and truly British liquor. Plymouth Gin is a bigger, more balanced product than London Dry. Have a whiff. You'll inhale the customary juniper but catch notable aromas of cardamom, coriander and angelica. Take a sip. The flavor is earthy and rich with gentle piney notes. Lemon zest, sweet orange, anise and nutmeg creep in. The finish is longer with less burn and bite.
Try it in a dry martini with a lemon twist to experience it pure. As a big gin, it will stand up to more aggressive flavors too. If you can find some treacle (a golden syrup like light molasses), you can mix one part with two parts of Plymouth Gin and make a traditional Mahogany.
