Because isn't that the whole point?
Pours a clear medium amber producing 1.5 fingers of off-white, frothy, somewhat lasting, head that leaves only a little lace above the surface ring. Aroma is a lightly buttered toast with hints of roasted nuts, caramel & grass. Taste is roasted malt & burned bread, nuts, some caramel, increasingly bitter (excessive for the style) with a metallic note from mid-sip into aftertaste. No real sweet note at all. Floral/herbal hop notes & resinous hops in the bitterness profile. Finishes dry, peppery, bitter & metallic becoming bitter, metallic & quite astringent in the aftertaste. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with high carbonation, moderately prickly, very dry & drawing. I'm not sure if the bottle I had was mishandled & oxidized but it was not very drinkable & in fact was unpleasant, especially the metallic taste & astringency. In the interest of fairness I will try to get my hands on another bottle but until such time I am compelled to give this one a low review rating.View all products by Peak Organic Brewing Company
