It has a light hops flavor and balances subtle bitterness with an unmistakably fruity and clove character.View all products by Paulaner
While the beer comes in a drinkable bottle, it is always recommended to pour a hefeweizen into a tall glass as it is unfiltered and still has a bit of yeast waiting for you at the bottom. Pour about ¾ of the beer into your glass, spin the remainder up within the bottle and then finish the pour. This will allow the yeasty goodness to properly melt within the beer giving it that wonderful hazy yellow color with a perfect billowing white head. The smell of the beer should be soft with light floral and citrus aromas wafting from the big head as the beer settles. Perhaps you'll catch a bit of bubble gum and a hint of banana or clove, but these will grow as the beer warms a bit. The taste is subtly sweet with lots of bready, wheaty flavors followed by that classic banana and clove flavor of the yeast, rounded out with just a tinge of lemon.
Incredibly easy to drink, Paulaner's Hefeweizen is one of the ultimate summer beers, made for long tables covered in bottles and glasses, surrounded by friends. But truly it can be enjoyed during any season, with lunch, with dinner, or just with a football game. Pair this beer with German classics. Weisswurst sausages with sides of fresh bread, homemade sauerkraut, and of course a heap of potato salad.
