Because isn't that the whole point?
Omission Pale Ale is a gluten-reduced beer, but the only thing it should be known as is a quality American pale ale. Don't jump to conclusions and assume that this beer as an shortcomings based on its less than 20ppm of gluten in each batch. The company was founded by a brewmaster whose wife was diagnosed with Celiac disease, lighting a fire within his creative spirit to brew beer recipes that she could enjoy without sacrificing flavor or quality. Omission Pale Ale is brewed with all of the traditional ingredients, including barley, and can stand up to the big body and big citrus and pine flavors of any of the other great pale ales on the market.
The gluten may have been removed through a few complex scientific techniques, but that is no reason to drink this beer in subpar format - pour it into a wide mouthed pint glass and admire it in all of its glory. A glorious shade of light amber, the beer pours clear and bright with moderate carbonation and a small, puffy head. It smells of softly toasted bread and light caramels, with pleasant pine and citrus zest notes from the west coast style hops used in the brewing processes. The taste is of clean malts and floral hops. It has a hint of bready sweetness and is balanced with notes of oranges and pine needles. The mouthfeel is soft and pleasant, making for a luxurious quaff.
Omission Pale Ale offers a flavor ideal to pair with numerous dishes, gluten free or not. Pair it with a crock pot overflowing with slow cooked sausage and peppers. The sweet and spicy and salty and rich notes of the dish will be delightful with this pungent beer. Go southern and pair it with a rich plate of cheesy shrimp & grits allowing the hops to cut the fat, adding relief to your palate so that you can dive in for a bit more. This beer is an incredibly alternative to all of your usual choices for your next tailgate, weekend pool party, or for simply sitting around the house on a warm summer evening, gluten free or not.
About The Brand
In the early 2000s, our brewmaster's wife was diagnosed with celiac disease. That's a tough diagnosis when you work in the beer industry and love drinking traditional craft beer. Joe made it his personal mission to brew a great tasting craft beer made from traditional ingredients and crafted to remove gluten. He didn't care about following any trends, he just wanted to make a craft beer for people who need or want to avoid gluten. That's how Omission Brewing Company was born.
