Because isn't that the whole point?
New Belgium Citradelic Tangerine IPA is an excitingly fruit forward take on the American-style IPA. Coming from the Fort Collins, Colorado brewer of so many other great beers, this newer brew in their ever growing list of incredible products combines several world favorite, fruit forward hops with tangerine infused orange peel for a finished product that is hard to resist. Named for the heavy use of Citra hops, careful planning and hop knowledge of their brewmasters led them to knowledgeably combine those with citrusy hops like Mandarina Bavaria with tropical notes from Azzaca along with fruit forward Galaxy hops on top of their favorite bittering hops for a world class beer. The malt backbone is strong enough to handle all of the hops and the addition of a heap of orange peel serves to bring it all together in one juicy gulp.
Wildly enjoyable out of the bottle, poured into a glass it becomes something of another level. The dark golden beer releases huge citrus notes of orange rind, tangerine juice, and grapefruit skins followed by hints of pine and herbaceous brush. The flavor is strong with tangerines and orange which overtake the pleasant toast and caramel notes from the malt. It finds itself finishing with just the right hint of mountain path bitterness, rounding everything out, preparing you for that next sip.
New Belgium Citradelic Tangerine IPA is great with numerous dishes, particularly those that would benefit from the big citrus flavor. Pair a glass with a southern fried chicken thigh sitting atop a fluffy Belgian waffle, smothered with butter and syrup. Allow the carbonation and bitterness to cut the fat while the orange and tangerine play gracefully on your tongue, taking you to a moment of adult breakfast. Throw a six pack in the fridge and surprise your friends with something exceptionally tasty to drink during your next backyard get together. Drink a bottle under the springtime sun and savor each sip a bit more than the last.
