Color: Deep, dark purple. Bouquet: Intriguing black cherry, balsamic herbs, coffee and lightly toasted oak. Taste: Harmonious flavors of dark fruit, dried flowers, chocolate and vanilla. Exotic, complex character, full bodied with polished, velvety tannins, and a long, smooth finish. Wine Advocate A pure expression of Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2009 Philip does a great job of capturing the power and intensity of the vintage. This lovely expression is infused with dark cherry and oak spice that wrap softly over the palate. The quality of tannin is also nicely evolved at this point with silky finishes and a firm sense of presence and weight in the mouth. Score: 93. —Monica Larner, October 2014. Wine Spectator Toasty oak frames cherry and wild herb flavors in this juicy red. Dense and tightly structured, echoing oak spice details on the long finish. Shows fine balance overall. Cabernet Sauvignon. Best from 2015 through 2024. 1,700 cases made. Score: 91. —Bruce Sanderson, August 31, 2014.
