Product description

The Balvenie DoubleWood 17 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky shares its honeyed, spicy characteristics with the 12 year old, yet, it’s distinctly different, with deeper vanilla notes, hints of green apple, creamy toffee and a striking richness and complexity. The Balvenie DoubleWood 17 year old is matured first in American oak barrels, which impart soft sweet vanilla notes, before being transferred to European oak sherry casks, where the second cask ageing adds rich spicy flavors and a depth and fullness of flavor. Best enjoyed neat, on the rocks or with a splash of water to expand the flavor. The Balvenie is dedicated to the five rare crafts that are used to create The Balvenie’s distinctive taste. It is the only distillery that still grows its own barley, uses traditional floor maltings and keeps both coppersmiths and coopers on site – making The Balvenie one of the most handcrafted of malts. The Balvenie is a unique range of single malt whiskies produced in Dufftown, Scotland’s Speyside region. Created by internationally renowned Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE, each variant in the range has its own unique taste, while still maintaining the recognizable undertones of the distinctively rich, smooth and honeyed character of The Balvenie. It has won awards at numerous international competitions, including an Outstanding Achievement in The Scotch Whisky Industry Award for David C. Stewart MBE at the 2019 International Wine & Spirit Competition. Handcrafted to be enjoyed responsibly.

Simply outstanding. Add just a little water like a chipped ice piece that releases the aromatics and smooths and enhances the taste experience.

FAQs

Yes, whiskey is gluten-free, thanks to the distillation process used to make it. The Celiac Disease Foundation concluded that it can safely be considered gluten-free, though it’s still possible that some people with high gluten sensitivity or celiac disease could have a reaction to whiskeys created from certain grains.
Whiskey can include a large number of different distilled spirits made from fermented grain mash — usually cereal grains like rye, barley malt, wheat and corn. The drink undergoes aging in wooden containers, most often oak.
One of the reasons whiskey is so popular is that there’s no single way to enjoy it. There’s the purist route — straight and neat, no mixers, no ice — but what fun is being a purist? You can add water to it, which can enhance certain bottles’ flavors or you can add it with other ingredients to make delicious mixed drinks. It’s the foundation of the Manhattan, the Old Fashioned, the Whiskey Sour and many others.
