Product Description

The Craigellachie distillery is a single malt Scotch whisky distillery in Aberlour, Banffshire. The location of the town in the heart of the Speyside region makes it an excellent location for a 'base camp' for whisky hunters. Here lay green pastures and heather-field and the distillery is in close proximity to the blissful confluence of rivers Spey and Fiddich. The water is drawn from a spring on Conval Hill and feeds the 3.6 million liter annual capacity of Craigellachie distillery. Lodgings were provided for the workforce in the form of terraced cottages each had their own small garden and every year. The name Craigellachie means 'rocky hill' and refers to the cliff that overlooks the Spey across from the Macallan distillery. This dark gold colored whisky has a rich, sweet nose of vanilla, Christmas pudding, butterscotch sauce and a hint of citrus peel. Smooth and creamy and sweet on the palate with marinated rich fruits to the fore and soft fruits and citrus peel coming through later to provide a well balanced, full taste. The finish is long, lingering and sweet with just a hint of sherry wood.
