Product description

In 1815, Ardbeg’s founder established our Distillery on the rugged, wild coastal rocks of South Islay. Over 200 years later, we’re still using our unique peat-laden wild water source and wisdom handed down through generations to craft the Ultimate Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky. Our flagship expression, matured for ten years in 1st Fill and 2nd Fill ex-bourbon American Oak casks to create a smoky balance of sweet vanilla and bold spice. Amongst the smokiest of the lower priced scotches. I like it fine, use this for godfathers.

Lots of smoke and peat when you first open the bottle then it turns into a brine and sweet with a touch of smoke towards the end of the bottle.

An all time favorite of mine. If you like smoky peated scotch whisky you wont be disappointed. It would be great if they carried some of the other variations.

We're a Laphroaig 10 family, so we thought we'd try something similar. I've got nothing bad to say about it, but, 1/4 bottle in and we're still a Laphroaig family. It's definitely worth a try.

FAQs

Yes, whiskey is gluten-free, thanks to the distillation process used to make it. The Celiac Disease Foundation concluded that it can safely be considered gluten-free, though it’s still possible that some people with high gluten sensitivity or celiac disease could have a reaction to whiskeys created from certain grains.
Whiskey can include a large number of different distilled spirits made from fermented grain mash — usually cereal grains like rye, barley malt, wheat and corn. The drink undergoes aging in wooden containers, most often oak.
One of the reasons whiskey is so popular is that there’s no single way to enjoy it. There’s the purist route — straight and neat, no mixers, no ice — but what fun is being a purist? You can add water to it, which can enhance certain bottles’ flavors or you can add it with other ingredients to make delicious mixed drinks. It’s the foundation of the Manhattan, the Old Fashioned, the Whiskey Sour and many others.
