In 1815, Ardbeg’s founder established our Distillery on the rugged, wild coastal rocks of South Islay. Over 200 years later, we’re still using our unique peat-laden wild water source and wisdom handed down through generations to craft the Ultimate Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky. Our flagship expression, matured for ten years in 1st Fill and 2nd Fill ex-bourbon American Oak casks to create a smoky balance of sweet vanilla and bold spice. Lots of smoke and peat when you first open the bottle then it turns into a brine and sweet with a touch of smoke towards the end of the bottle.

I’m not usually an Islay fan, but really enjoyed this. It has the smoky flavor, but I don’t feel suffocated like I do with some of the overly peaty brands out there.

An all time favorite of mine. If you like smoky peated scotch whisky you wont be disappointed. It would be great if they carried some of the other variations.

We're a Laphroaig 10 family, so we thought we'd try something similar. I've got nothing bad to say about it, but, 1/4 bottle in and we're still a Laphroaig family. It's definitely worth a try.
