While Basil Hayden bourbon is characterized by a higher percentage of rye that typically creates a spicier character, this expression leverages a malting process that transforms the rye grain to deliver a more subtle mellow spice with a delicate sweet and floral note. Bottled at 80 proof Malted rye offers a well-rounded lighter approachable and refined taste profile. Bottled at 80 proof and 40% ABV, the 100% malted rye mash bill imparts a delicate floral aroma and soft notes of vanilla and toasted rye bread, with a light finish of chocolate and warm spice Given the flavor profile of the liquid its approachability neat is recommended.
