Product Description

As malcontents, we’re particular about our whiskey. When we decided to release a rye, we knew it had to be something special to live up to the amazing response received by our bourbon finished in port barrels. Angel’s Envy Rye Finished in Rum Barrels is genuinely unique and worthy of Master Distiller Lincoln Henderson’s legacy. The taste profile of rye whiskey was a perfect fit for a rum cask finish. After sampling over 100 rums to find the right flavor to complement rye whiskey, the team’s decision was unanimous. Angel’s Envy spends up to 18 months finishing in Caribbean rum casks, resulting in an immensely complex whiskey. The mingling of raw, spicy and earthy rye with the mellow sweetness of rum finishing creates an incomparably smooth and drinkable whiskey, even at 100 proof.

Had this suggested to me while eating at Marriot motel downtown. Had my first taste and the vanilla, smoky with little heat of rye...loved it!!! After having it one day, went and found it at first liquor store could get to and bought it soon as could! Have enjoyed it since and always recommend to others!!!

This is the holy grail of sweet, vanilla flavored bourbon thanks to the rum barrels. If you like regular angels envy and like things with a slightly sweet flare then you will love this. Regular angels envy won’t even come close anymore.

The rum-cask finish to the rye seems to negate the whole point of a rye, which should have a tinge of spiciness without the sweetness of a bourbon. It's a touch too sweet, however if you like that, then it surely rates a fifth star.

Smooth... with a whisper of rum- finishing with warm- then hot- bread- pudding. Yum

FAQs

Yes, whiskey is gluten-free, thanks to the distillation process used to make it. The Celiac Disease Foundation concluded that it can safely be considered gluten-free, though it’s still possible that some people with high gluten sensitivity or celiac disease could have a reaction to whiskeys created from certain grains.
Whiskey can include a large number of different distilled spirits made from fermented grain mash — usually cereal grains like rye, barley malt, wheat and corn. The drink undergoes aging in wooden containers, most often oak.
One of the reasons whiskey is so popular is that there’s no single way to enjoy it. There’s the purist route — straight and neat, no mixers, no ice — but what fun is being a purist? You can add water to it, which can enhance certain bottles’ flavors or you can add it with other ingredients to make delicious mixed drinks. It’s the foundation of the Manhattan, the Old Fashioned, the Whiskey Sour and many others.
