- Silver / Blanco Tequila
Sauza Silver Tequila is as true as tequila gets. First of all, it was originally made in 1873 in the town of Tequila by Don Cenobio Sauza, the first person to call agave spirit "tequila." Built from 100 percent agave, distilled twice and then rested in stainless steel, you'll taste nothing but agave and love.
Check the labels. Not every tequila out there is 100 percent agave. Some have neutral spirits added to a 51 percent agave spirit. Some "gold" tequilas get their color from brown sugar instead of a barrel.
On the nose, you'll whiff blossoming grass with hints of peach and grapefruit plus tropical notes of pineapple and banana. The taste is crisp with citrus and a tiny bit of sweetness. The finish is light and floral.
Sauza Silver Tequila makes a great light partner to the Añejo on your home bar. Sip it on the rocks or with club soda to explode your friends' preconceived notions. It's also very friendly as a mixer, but be gentle because it's not as bold as its oak-aged cousins. Try it in a simple margarita. Muddle two wedges of lime with one wedge of orange. Add a shot of Sauza Silver with 3/4 ounce of orange liqueur. Shake and strain into a half-salted martini glass.
