Hornitos Reposado is made from 100% blue agave and aged in large oak vats for at least two months for a smooth-tasting tequila. Hornitos was introduced to the world in 1950 by founder Don Francisco Javier Sauza in honor of Mexican Independence Day. Featuring notes of apple and herbs along with a strong agave nectar flavor, this Hornitos Reposado Tequila also offers a warm and slightly astringent finish. Whether enjoyed neat, on the rocks, or in signature cocktails, such as a Margarita, Hornitos Reposado delivers bold flavor in every sip. There are three main styles of tequila — Blanco, Reposado, and Añejo — and the classifications determine how long a tequila is aged. Reposado tequila must be aged for at least two months, though some can go as long as a year. Hornitos Reposado tequila is aged for a minimum of two months in large oak vessels. Hornitos Reposado tequila is an 80-proof spirit, which is the exact alcohol minimum for tequilas sold in the United States. The tequila industry has a strict set of regulations designed to ensure quality and transparency. Legally, tequila can be bottled between 70-proof and 110-proof, but some countries (like the United States) require a minimum proof for certain spirits. Tequila must also contain at least 51% Mexican agave — a threshold that allows distillers to add other lesser quality ingredients — but most premium brands, like Hornitos, won’t settle for less than 100% Blue Weber agave.
