Product description

A blend of pot and column still rum from two powerhouse distilleries, Foursquare in Barbados and Hampden Estate in Jamaica, blended by Richard Seale. In total three rums are included, a two year tropically aged Foursquare pot still rum (lending a bit of color), an unaged Foursquare coffey column still rum, and an unaged Hampden Estate pot still rum. The Hampden marque used is OWH, a low ester marque. Bottled at 47% ABV - No color. No additives. No filtration. The nose is creamy with custard and vanilla, citrus and a basket of fresh tropical fruit. Palate is fully textured and oily, with flavors of molasses and kola nut, marshmallow, banana, guava, and more. Delicious! For the first time in history, Probitas is a joint venture between Caribbean distilleries to produce a blended Rum. Light white rums contributed to the explosion of popularity of cocktails like the Daiquiri in the post prohibition era. Unlike the white rums of today, which are often made from neutral or near neutral spirit, the white rums of the past had appreciable flavor. Probitas is a style of rum that would have made your daiquiri in the 1930s... Coming from two of the most iconic distilleries in two of the most respected islands in the Caribbean for Rum making - Foursquare Rum Distillery in Barbados, and Hampden Estate in Jamaica. Distilled, matured, blended and bottled in the Caribbean. No sugar, flavor, color, nor neutral/multi column spirit added. Bottled at a higher proof, 47% Alc/Vol, to showcase bold character, especially in cocktail.

They were out and didn’t deliver it. Wish I knew.

As far as a mixing rum nothing I have tasted beats Probitas. You want one of the best Daiquiri's ever, you need to start with Probitas!

I got this rum because I am a big fan of both Foursquare and the Hampden distilleries. Drinking it near this rum tastes like a blend of Barbados rum with a bit of Jamaican funk coming through. That’s what I expected, and it is good. But I am not thrilled with the results when mixing it. Not a great daiquiri rum in my opinion. So I am giving it 4 stars for delivering exactly what I expected but I can’t give it 5 stars because it isn’t what I was hoping for.

FAQs

White rum is also called 'silver rum' or 'light rum'. It's a blonde colored rum, either unaged, or aged for about a year, sometimes less, in steel tanks. The tanks give it that notable light color, while maintaining a light body and sweet taste that rum is known for. Light rum is that light color due to its short aging period. The longer rum ages (especially if in a wooden cask) the darker it will become. Light rum is ideal for cocktails like mojitos and piña coladas.
While not all of Barcardís drink catalog is white rum, it's true that Bacardí has a number of white rum products including Superior and their vast amount of flavored white rums.
This will depend on if you have a flavored rum or not. However, similar to other varietals of rum, white rum goes with sodas, fruit juices and tonics. Try a mojito, piña colada or rum and coke to start.
All rum is made from sugarcane products - including white rum. The reason that white rum is clear is due to its shorter aging period, which sometimes occurs is steel tanks.
