Had not tried this before. On the sweet side, but in a good way. Sipped on ice and used as a mixer. Was great both ways. Would def buy again.

A bit drier than Reserva Exclusiva, sips nicely as well. Perfect for a classic Daiquiri or Rum & Coke for the Summer!

I'd had good luck with the Diplomatico Rum Reserva Exclusiva. Many have criticized it for being overly sweet. They're right, it's a very sweet rum - but sometimes I find that attractive. People drink port. People drink schnapps. There's no lying about it being sweet - and it's a fine dessert rum, reasonably priced. So why not try the Extra Anejo? Seemed like a good idea, but it's a very different beast. This a far drier, less sweet rum then the Exclusiva. I smell vanilla on the nose and get cherries, honey, and cinnamon. Some other reviewers notice additional complexity, including chocolate. I'll keep an open mind and come back, but I missed it on the first try. It's versatile, I drink it on the rocks, but at this price point I wouldn't hesitate to mix with ginger beer or another mixer. A small wedge of lime does just fine, but it's certainly not required. If you thought the Exclusiva was too sweet, or sweet isn't your thing - this is the discount Venezuelan rum for you. A solid, every day rum for the weekdays when you don't want to break into the Santa Teresa 1796.

It's a great product, exactly what I was looking for. Great to mix or to drink on the rocks. Drizzly worked perfect. Fast delivery, like 15 minutes.

Aged rum is older rums that have matured and lost a bit of the original liquid from evaporation, but have a more complex character than unaged rum. That amount of liquid that evaporates during aging is affectionately called the 'angels share'.
The best way to drink anything is the way that you like it. If you're looking for a suggestion - try it the same way you would whisky. Often rum is drank with a bit of water in it, or an ice cube or two. This gives rum the best sipping experience.
This depends. Often, rum is required to age for at least one year. However, rums are aged for differing years which attributes to changes in color and flavor. White rum is aged for the least amount of time, where dark rum is aged for some time.
Rum is aged in oak casks - commonly bourbon casks, but sometimes wooden casks or stainless steel tanks. Each distiller is different - so its always a good idea to read how they age their rum for a full understanding of the product.
