Product description

El Peloton de la Muerte Mezcal Artesanal is produced by Cutberto Santiago, in the central valleys of Oaxca. The label for El Peloton de la Muerte, which means Squadron of Death coming from Mexico's Independence in 1821. The Agave Espadin was cooked in stone pit covered with lava rocks, crushed with a horse drawn tahona, after which it fermented for four days in wood vats using natural fermentation. It is then double distilled in small copper stills.

My wife and I have now consumed 2 bottles of this mezcal on 2 separate occasions. Initial chemical taste gives way to a smooth smokey flavor which we both enjoy. Would love to be able to try this in an aged variety. Not sure if this is worth the $7 price difference Etween it and Monte Alban mezcal. Advertised on Drizly as a liter but only 750ml. Will probably buy again.
