I love the cinnamon flavor and the tiny gold specks enhance the experience. It’s basically cinnamon schnapps with gold flecks, so it’s very sweet. I add a touch to bland sparkling wine, or mix with Fresca or diet sprite on the rocks.

LOVED this. Used it to make a Chanukah cocktail, Chanukah Gelt (3 chocolate vodka:1 Goldschlager) and it was delicious. Also, Drizly service was excellent as well

FAQs

Great question: There’s about $0.75 worth of gold in Goldschlager. While this will probably ruin your dreams of striking it big by panning Goldschlager, that’s still a pretty significant amount of luxury for a bottle of cinnamon schnapps. Goldschlager puts those gold flakes in their bottles because it is all about style and not about function. The urban myth that the gold flakes score tiny cuts in your throat to expedite the absorption of alcohol is pure fiction. Gold is among the most nonreactive metals, meaning those 13 mg of gold in a bottle will pass right through you with no ill effects.
Goldschlager, German for “gold beater,” is a Swiss cinnamon schnapps best known for its sweet, fiery flavor and the many delicate flakes of atom-thick gold flakes floating in its ether. Goldschlager is fun, spicy (no, seriously — it’s got a kick to it), and delicious for sipping on its own or providing a personality-rich base for cocktails. At 87 proof (43.5% alcohol by volume), it’s no slouch in terms of booziness but doesn’t sacrifice an inch of style.
Goldschlager has a famous burn to it. If you drink it straight, it’s highly recommended to serve it chilled to get the maximum experience (spicy and ice cold is a satisfying combo). You can also experiment with endless combinations of Goldschlager and other ingredients in cocktails like Liquid Kryptonite, the Gingerbread Man, and the Golden Delicious.
While it’s true that there are eye-catching 24-karat flakes floating around in the schnapps, Goldschlager is much more than a golden gimmick. This sweet liqueur is spicy and includes real cinnamon, giving it a sweet, warming flavor that mixes well into cocktails and is delightful on its own. Whether you’re giving it to someone who likes the aesthetics of liquor bottles or purely enjoys what’s in them, Goldschlager is a gift worth its weight in gold.
