This liquor has a nostalgia taste of childhood, vanilla citrus milkshake wish a dash of comfort. Tried an avocado cocktail with liquor 43 in Mexico City and fell in love.

Never had it before; it was good as part of the Scottish Seaside cocktail, but maybe a little more subtle than I was anticipating.

Unreliable service, bait and switch pricing, order had to be cancelled due to shifty practices. You're not paying what you agree to, beware.

This Licor 43 is crucial for the Carajillo cocktail. Shot of espresso and shot of this, shaken, and strained on ice. Excellent way to start the morning. Highly recommend.

In Mexico, we mix it with an espresso on the rocks and it’s the simplest and best combination you’ll ever taste. We call it “carajillo”.

FAQs

Licor 43 (also called Cuarenta Y Tres) is a Spanish, vanilla-flavored liqueur with an alcohol content of 31%. The 43 in the spirit’s name comes from the brand’s closely guarded recipe, which is said to feature 43 different ingredients. The Zamora Company, which now owns several different alcohol brands, launched Licor 43 in 1946, and the unique vanilla liqueur is largely considered the key to the company’s initial success. Licor 43 can be enjoyed neat, but it’s super popular when served in a cup of coffee.
Licor 43 is a really interesting liqueur. While vanilla is undoubtedly the prominent flavor, the brand’s recipe features 42 other ingredients. While the initial taste will be sweet, Licor 43 promises more complexity in its overall tasting experience; look for notes of citrus fruits, herbs, and spices as you swallow. To best enjoy Licor 43, you can drink it neat, over ice, or mixed in coffee (pro tip: place a bar spoon against the side of your coffee mug and gently pour some Licor 43 over the bowl of the spoon, which should allow the liqueur to settle along the top).
The Zamora Company, which owns Licor 43, distributes its products throughout the world, so you should be able to locate a bottle at most major liquor retailers. However, it’s not a super well-known spirit in the United States, so you’ll want to do some research before you start shopping around. With Drizly’s online alcohol marketplace, you can enter your zip code and see what local liquor stores currently have in stock in your area (plus, you can price shop). Drizly operates in more than 1,500 cities, so there’s a good chance we can help you track down a bottle of Licor 43.
Licor 43 makes a good gift because it’s unique and very tasty. This isn’t a super well-known product in the United States, but once you’ve tried it, you’ll want to always have a bottle on hand (especially for post-dinner coffees). While a bottle of Licor 43 can be a little challenging to track down, it probably won’t cost you more than $30, which is pretty impressive for an imported, high-quality liqueur. This golden spirit is best gifted to those who appreciate sweeter liqueurs or someone who loves an elevated cup of coffee.

Drizly's take

A sweet liqueur originating in Spain, Licor 43® uses a traditional family recipe. It has a beautiful golden color and features more than 43 select ingredients, which include a wide variety of fruits, aromatic herbs, spices and Mediterranean citrus. This Spanish liqueur has a sweet flavor with strong vanilla notes. Bright citrus and toasty cinnamon give this liqueur a complex profile with several layers of aromas and tastes. Sip it at the end of a meal to freshen up your palate. You can mix it with coffee, soda or other fizzy beverages, such as ginger ale, for a flavorful spin.

Use this sweet liqueur in cocktail recipes to add a creamy touch of vanilla. Blend Licor 43 with vodka, some apple cider, a dash of lime juice and a touch of ground cinnamon.
