Left Hand Milk Stout Nitro
|Region||Colorado, United States|
Dark and delicious, Americas great milk stout will change your perception about what a stout can be. Pouring hard out of the bottle, Milk Stout Nitro cascades beautifully, building a tight, thick head like hard whipped cream. The aroma is of brown sugar and vanilla cream, with hints of roasted coffee. The pillowy head coats your upper lip and its creaminess entices your palate. Initial roasty, mocha flavors rise up, with slight hop and roast bitterness in the finish. The rest is pure bliss of milk chocolate fullness. ABV 6.0View all products by Left Hand
Left Hand's Nitro Milk Stout is for the dessert lover in all of us. Brewed in the heart of Rocky Mountain beer country, Denver, Colorado, Left Hand has been churning out this decadent milk stout for years, but the velvety nitrogenated variation was reserved to the draft lines at your favorite beer bar until recent years. The moniker can be a bit curious to the uninitiated. Milk stout? Nitro? Don't let the concepts confuse you. Rather, let it be known that a milk stout isn't actually brewed with milk, but with lactose, a milk sugar that can not be consumed by brewer's yeast, therby resulting in a luscious, sweet beer. And while the more common beer is carbonated with the CO2 that gives us those little bubbles that brush our tongues and scratch our throats, this beer uses nitrogen and provides a much smoother effect.
While you certainly can enjoy this beer straight from the bottle, it's recommended to pour hard into a tall glass pint. This will allow you to witness the cascading brown bubbles in the deep, black beer as the beer settles and the nitrogen lifts away, leaving a pillowy head. It's like that perfect pour of Guinness, only not at all. Aromas waft of brown sugar, vanilla cream, roasted coffee, and burnt caramel. The flavor follows sooth as the creamy texture hits your lips and envelops your mouth like a chocolatey kiss. Notes of rich mocha, robust coffee, and malted candies are balanced with a slight bitter hop character and exquisite roasty finish from the roasted barley and chocolate malts.
If you are looking for the perfect beer to drink alongside a slice of seven layer chocolate cake on your birthday or perhaps switch things up on date night and prove that beer can go just as well with chocolate dipped strawberries as anything wine ever could, Left Hand's Nitro Milk Stout is the beer for you. Take it on camping trips, or just light some old lumber on fire in your backyard and enjoy it alongside the smoke and the stars.
