Lagunitas is brewery worth visiting whether you have tried the beers or not. They are known for their live music, lively taprooms, delicious beverages, daily tours, and for the icing on the cake, a number of dogs running around for you to pet. Their founders have roots all over the country, but they have settled with their flagship brewery in Petaluma, located in Northern California, and also Chicago.
Lagunitas Czech Style Pilsner, their only lager in their exceptionally extensive lineup of beers, is meant to go down easy and be enjoyed by every beer lover. Released in 1997, four years after their founding, the Czech Style Pils comes in at 6% ABV and is truly meant to be enjoyed all day long, responsibly of course. What makes a Pilsner unique is its bottom-fermenting technique, meaning the yeasts are kept at the bottom of the tanks, improving on clarity and color of the beer. Compared to other Pilsner styles from different countries, the Czech style results in a lighter flavor, easier drinkability, and a golden color, which you see and taste immediately upon pouring and drinking the Lagunitas Czech Style Pilsner.
With its refreshing flavors, it also has a grassy quality, a heady foam when poured correctly (which is poured down the side of a tall Pilsner glass), but with a nice finish leaving you knowing you just had a top pilsner from the United States. Due to its lighter style, the Lagunitas Czech Style Pilsner is to be enjoyed with light pastas, salads in vinaigrette, due to the acidity of the vinaigrette balancing out the crisp floral notes of the beer extremely well.
