The oldest-known recipe for the mojito appeared as the Mojo de Ron in a 1929 Cuban guide called Libro de Cocktail (The Cocktail Book).

  • 2 oz White rum
  • 3/4 oz Fresh lime juice
  • 1 oz Simple syrup
  • 1/2 oz chilled Club soda
  • 8 Mint leaves, plus 1 mint sprig to garnish

Tools

  • Shaker
  • Collins glass

How to Mix

  1. In a cocktail shaker, muddle the mint leaves
  2. Add ice and the rum, lime juice and Simple syrup
  3. Shake well
  4. Strain into an ice-filled collins glass, stir in the club soda and garnish with the mint sprig
