According to master mixologist Dale DeGroff, a drink called the Tequila Daisy was served at Tijuana’s Agua Caliente racetrack in the 1920s. It was made with lemon juice, tequila and a sweet ingredient—the template for a Margarita.

  • 1 1/2 oz Blanco tequila
  • 1 oz Cointreau or other triple sec
  • 3/4 oz Fresh lime juice

  • Margarita glass

How to Mix

  1. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice
  2. Add the tequila, Cointreau and fresh lime juice
  3. Shake well
  4. Strain the drink into a chilled coupe
