If ever a beverage brand took over the world in the best way possible, that brand would be Red Bull. It was all the brainchild of Dietrich Mateschitz, an Austrian businessman who was inspired by functional drinks found in the Far East. In the 1980s, he began working on finding the perfect formula for a drink of his own. He also wanted a fresh take on marketing.

And so was born the Red Bull Energy Drink on April 1, 1987. Yes, he invented the energy drink. He was also starting one of the most influential, generous and diverse brands ever to grace the face of the earth. Red Bull has never been content to simply sell their delicious, fizzy drinks from gas station refrigerators. They are a force of nature, sponsoring many of the world’s major athletic events, single-handedly inventing and popularizing sports, helping athletes push the boundaries of physics, putting on some of the most dazzling entertainment events in history, giving different forms of dance a world stage … and the list goes on.

But yeah, that fizzy stuff they make is also damn good.
