Dogfish Head Namaste White
|Region||Delaware, United States|
On a quest to brew a witbier chock full of flavor, Namaste White dug deep into our culinary roots using ingredients of dried organic orange slices, fresh-cut lemongrass, peppercorns and a bit of coriander for a refreshing and sessionable experience. With notes of clove and subtle coriander, you'll find flavors of citrus and sweet malt, with a slightly spicy finish for a zesty mouthfeel. Originally brewed in tribute to our friends at 3 Fonteinen Brewery in Belgium after a devastating setback to their business in 2009, Namaste White is a witbier bursting with good karma.View all products by Dogfish Head
Dogfish Head's Namaste is an off-centered take on a traditional Belgian-style wit beer and it delivers with a burst of flavor. Typically brewed with a bit of dried orange peel and a hint of coriander, Dogfish Head goes a step further using those ingredients as well as fresh cut lemongrass and peppercorns to increase the exuberant flavor of citrus and spice nestled within the soft, wheat beer. First brewed in 2009 as a tribute to the well known 3 Fonteinen brewery in Belgium that was undergoing some undeserved woes, it is a beer that not only tastes incredible, but brings a bit of peace upon the earth.
Poured into a wide, shapely pint glass, Namaste is a hazy yellow gold color, showing signs of the huge amount of wheat that it is brewed with and holding a pillowy white head. The nose is perfumed with notes of yeasty spice melded with natural citrus notes and a pronounced piquancy from the use of coriander and peppercorns. The flavor is filled with lemongrass, ginger, and wheaty grains. There is a slight sweetness from the dried oranges, but the sweetness is a delightful contrast to the mild bitterness from the earthy hops. The carbonation is on point, balancing the slickness of the malt with the astringency of the bubbles for an exhilarating quaff.
Dogfish Head Namaste is a wonderful counterpoint to a rich and creamy Caesar salad and can pair perfectly with light fish or poultry. Try it with a grilled chicken breast in a citrus marinade or a fresh summer fruit salad on top of a bowl of organic vanilla ice cream. It is a great all weather beer that will brighten up a dark day or amplify the summer sun on a warm August afternoon. Share a six pack with friends and think about the love shared across continents when this beer was first brewed in support of brewer friends.
