Product Description

A lot of cranberries grow in Massachusetts and an unnamed member of Downeast Cider has an affinity for them: dried cranberries, cranberry juice, and most of all, Cranberry Blend. This interesting twist on Original Blend won’t make your lips pucker but will bring a smile.

Drizly Expert Notes

Downeast Cider Cranberry Blend is a 5.0% ABV cider made with freshly pressed cranberry juice and dried cranberries that adds a puckering tart berry bite to the base cider, Original Blend. Cranberry Blend is gluten free and unfiltered, and always tasty. The lack of filtering gives Cranberry Blend a medium body, with flavors of citrus, honey, tart cranberry and a medium acidity and semi-dry finish.

The founders of Downeast originally wanted to name their cidery, Three Idiots Cider. After they found out the name was already taken, they formed Downeast Cider House in 2011. Founders Ross Brockman and Tyler Mosher graduated college with degrees in philosophy and economics. Without plans to get traditional jobs and while making cider on their free time, they decided to take on cider making full time. Based out of Boston, with four different production facilities and a tasting room, the company within a few years has quickly grown to employ almost 200 workers.

To pair Cranberry Blend, look no further than using the familiar apple and cranberry flavors of Thanksgiving to play off of the flavors within the can. Not to only be left for dessert, this cider has enough mild acidity to pair with your main course of hearty turkey meat, starchy mashed potatoes, and acidic cranberry sauce, as well as offer anticipate the palate of what is to come for dessert when apple pie hits the table.
